Four different ways !

Members of A.P.P.E.A.L. can improve their knowledge of spoken English by taking part in a number of activities such as conversation workshops, English social activities and bilingual social activities (Partners for Practice), and by taking advantage of the various other services available to them.

1- Conversation workshops are held on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 7 :00 pm to 10 :00 pm, for ten consecutive weeks in the fall and in winter. In a relaxed environment, small groups of around four participants discuss a range of topics in English under the supervision of an anglophone monitor. Discussion topics and activities vary each week and include debates, role-playing activities and brainstorming. For examples, consult the session calendar.

2- Social activities in English take place on weekends (every two weeks). Activities include happy hours, brunches, bowling and pool tournaments, cultural visits and sporting activities. For examples, consult the latest social activities calendar.

3-Bilingual social activities (Partners for Practice program) aim to bring francophones and anglophones together, promoting enriching linguistic exchange. Equal time during activities is spent speaking French and English, to enable participants to practise their respective second languages. Partners activities are temporalily stopped.

4- A.P.P.E.A.L. also offers tailor-made English classes to its members and to local employers on a mutually-convenient schedule for both parties. For more details, contact us.

Members of A.P.P.E.A.L. can also borrow English books free of charge.
